New Star Trek rarepairs Discord

Come and join the trek-rarepair-swap Discord server. The swap is a (formerly) monthly fanworks exchange that has been running for 28 Rounds on Tumblr. We're currently on hiatus and planning to come back in March and run quarterly. At the moment we're experimenting with expanding onto other platforms and providing a space to talk Trek and rarepairs in addition to the swap.

What platforms? Twitter by any chance? I'd love to talk rarepairs since I'm a total rarepair shipper, no matter which series, I always ship the rarest pairings.

At the moment we're looking into Discord and Dreamwidth. We haven't talked about Twitter as of yet. But you're more than welcome to join the Discord which is brandy shiny new, hot off the presses

I've never been on Discord, I just feel maybe I'm too old for it (I turned out to be too old for Snapchat, for example)... but Dreamwidth would be cool! I'd definitely join a Trek Rare Pair community!

Well, no pressure! The Dreamwidth is here. There's nothing up at present, but we're planning to start running the swap again in March.

Basically, the idea is that you request 1-3 ships with under 50 works on AO3 and are assigned to create something for someone else (can be fic, fanart, a mix, I've made dolls, anything). If you don't want to participate yourself, you're more than welcome to join anyway. Our total output so far is here. We also have a collection on AO3, that I can't link to right now because my internet is super slow, but I'll rustle it up later.

In terms of just spaces to chat, we haven't discussed that in terms of the Dreamwidth yet, but I'm sure we could have occasional posts where people just squee in the comments about their favourite rarepairs together.

If you want I can always throw in a post about my favorite rarepairs or something. (Which are... ahem... VERY Jean-Luc heavy. Ahem, ahem.)

And I can always make icons for someone else, absolutely! I no longer write, but icons can always be done, especially if it's TNG icons since I'm most familiar with that show.

I think we're currently planning for the posts to be largely either from the mods or fanworks for the swap. Your fanwork could be headcanons for whatever you were assigned, of course! We might be doing a zine eventually where we'd get people to write stuff for/about their own rarepairs, but that'd be a while down the line.
