I hope you enjoy S5! I really liked it. I also hope you enjoy the CBS show if you give it a go, but fwiw it is quite different in tone, so you may or may not vibe with it. Basically, it's a lot less hard edged and cynical than the BBC show and it has more of a traditional serialised TV narrative arc as opposed to the more episodic nature of the original show and there's more of a focus on the ghost characters changing and having agency over their character growth/afterlives.
I think some people much prefer one over the other because of these differences in the outlook/aims of each show, based on either preferring something more spiky and sardonic where there's an emphasis on the tragedy of the characters not being able to change/have agency as much as they could in life under the comedy vs preferring something a little more lighthearted and kind where there plot elements in a given episode make a big change to the overall tragectory of the show and characters, but I like both a lot and feel that they are both very successful at accomplishing what they are trying to do. I really don't think one is notably better than the other, which I see a lot of people saying, I just think they're very different from each other.
