Planner Snowflake, day one

Either here or in your own space, talk a little about what draws you to planners and/or journals? What about them makes you happy?

[community profile] journalsandplanners is currently running a challenge inspired by the Snowflake Challenge and today is day one!

To answer the first question: organisation. It's a very boring response, but the long and short of it is paper and pen has a much better memory than my own brain. Also, giving myself to-do lists and having somewhere to keep them all makes me a lot more productive. I also track habits and my mood in my journal, which I probably wouldn't do otherwise, and that has been very helpful with keeping my mental health in check. If nothing else, I have a written record of how things have been to refer to when I am talking to my psychiatrist.

In terms of the second question, having a journal gives me peace of mind and keeping up to date with it and being orderly makes me very satisfied. I'm the kind of person who makes spreadsheets for fun, so I have at least asperations of organisation and having data makes me happy.

I too appreciate the boring old functionality of using a planner to ... plan :P

Maybe boring but still a very important answer!! Needing a better way to organise myself is the reason why I'm looking to find a planner style that suits me and my brain. Here's hoping to get inspiration from the planners snowflake :D

I mean, all planner-related things are boring unless you're into planners, in which case none of them are boring. It's cool to see how many people here mention practical reasons compared to all the aesthetic-heavy planner stuff I see elsewhere.
