I saw a similar statistic once that said that if Black people make up more than 30% of a crowd, people will think that they are the majority. I think brains automatically overweight things that stand out to them. It's why if you've been raised on a steady diet of white male action heroes, if you get a year when two movies come out with female action heroes and one of them is Black, people are suddenly talking about it like it's an avalanche.
